Superconducting Contacts to a Monolayer Semiconductor

نویسندگان

چکیده

We demonstrate superconducting vertical interconnect access (VIA) contacts to a monolayer of molybdenum disulfide (MoS$_2$), layered semiconductor with highly relevant electronic and optical properties. As contact material we use MoRe, superconductor high critical magnetic field temperature. The electron transport is mostly dominated by single superconductor/normal conductor junction clear gap. In addition, find MoS$_2$ regions that are strongly coupled the superconductor, resulting in resonant Andreev tunneling dependent gap characteristics, suggesting proximity effect. Magnetoresistance measurements show bandstructure intrinsic carrier mobility remain intact bulk MoS$_2$. This type VIA applicable large variety materials contacts, opening up path semiconductors as platform for hybrid devices.

Sensing with Superconducting Point Contacts

Superconducting point contacts have been used for measuring magnetic polarizations, identifying magnetic impurities, electronic structures, and even the vibrational modes of small molecules. Due to intrinsically small energy scale in the subgap structures of the supercurrent determined by the size of the superconducting energy gap, superconductors provide ultrahigh sensitivities for high resolu...

Semiconductor-Nanowire-Based Superconducting Qubit.

We introduce a hybrid qubit based on a semiconductor nanowire with an epitaxially grown superconductor layer. Josephson energy of the transmonlike device ("gatemon") is controlled by an electrostatic gate that depletes carriers in a semiconducting weak link region. Strong coupling to an on-chip microwave cavity and coherent qubit control via gate voltage pulses is demonstrated, yielding reasona...

Superconducting atomic contacts under microwave irradiation.

We have measured the effect of microwave irradiation on the dc current-voltage characteristics of superconducting atomic contacts. The interaction of the external field with the ac supercurrents leads to replicas of the supercurrent peak, the well-known Shapiro resonances. The observation of supplementary fractional resonances for contacts containing highly transmitting conduction channels reve...

Graphene based superconducting quantum point contacts

We investigate the Josephson effect in the graphene nanoribbons of length L smaller than the superconducting coherence length and an arbitrary width W . We find that in contrast to an ordinary superconducting quantum point contact (SQPC) the critical supercurrent Ic is not quantized for the nanoribbons with smooth and armchair edges. For a low concentration of the carriers Ic decreases monotoni...
